You all must not have ridden 86/83 buses, which unfortunately have limited ridership up and down the corridor, which is why service is relatively infrequent.

In the mid-1990s, MTA did a study of a streetcar for the corridor, I suggest moving in that direction, and linking with DC.

I think that Joe's Electric Bus is a good idea. My understanding of the Route 1 traffic plan is that it limits or eliminates left hand turns. If that is true, I would run the bus up and down the center lane (current left turn lane) and coordinate pickup/discharge of passengers with the traffic lights. The advantage would be users would not be caught in the heavy traffic, which may be enough incentive to get some people out of their cars. We might also think about free parking for Electric Bus users and allow bicycles to be carried on the bus.

Thanks
